 Air India Flight Crashes with 242 On Board

A devastating air tragedy struck today in India’s western city of Ahmedabad as an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, bound for London, crashed shortly after takeoff. The flight was carrying 242 individuals, including passengers and crew members when it went down at or near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.


According to Air India, the manifest included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, 7 Portuguese nationals, and 1 Canadian national. Tragically, the crew issued a Mayday call to Air Traffic Control moments after takeoff, as confirmed by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The cause of the crash remains under investigation.


This incident marks a somber moment not just for the aviation community, but for humanity at large. As rescue and recovery efforts continue, our thoughts are with the victims and their families, who are now facing an unthinkable loss.


Emergency Response and Global Reactions

Emergency services were deployed within minutes, with local police, firefighters, and disaster response teams working tirelessly at the crash site. Eyewitnesses described seeing flames and smoke as the aircraft attempted to return to the airport.

Portugal, Canada, and other concerned nations have also issued statements of condolence.
